Thank you for your interest in the State of Maine Approved Electrician Courses through Penn Foster. These courses are fully recognized and approved by the State of Maine Electrician's Board. They are designed for self-study and incorporate a programmed learning approach to be coupled with your on the job training. Each course is substantiated with a Penn Foster graded exam and a module Proctored exam(s).

Exams can be submitted on-line, via phone and an 800#, Faxed or a hard copy sent in the mail. Proctored exams are returned in a self addressed stamped envelope. We grade all exams, maintain records, issue monthly reports on each student's progress, provide telephone help lines staffed by subject matter experts, and award certificates upon completion. There is no waiting and the courses begin after your initial enrollment.

The approved courses are as follows:

  1. State of Maine Approved Electrician Course Part 1 & Part 2
    (Completion of both are required for the State of Maine Journeyman or Master's License)
  2. ME-Limited House Wiring Licenses *
  3. ME-Limited Licenses in Low Voltage *
  4. ME-Limited Electrician Licenses for Refrigeration *
  5. ME-Current National Electrical Code (NEC) *
  6. ME-Blue Print Reading *
  7. ME-Electronics 1 *
  8. ME-Controls 1 *

About the State of Maine Electrical Course:

The State of Maine Electrical Course as approved by the Electrician's Examining Board includes 636 hours of related instruction and consists of two parts:

Part 1 consists of the Education Direct Electrician's Course plus ten (10) proctored examinations.

Part 2 consists of additional courses required by the Maine Electrician's Examining Board plus five (5) proctored examinations.

The Enrollment Process:

Normally, students will start by enrolling in Part 1 only. When Part 1 has been completed, and accounts settled, the student may then enroll in Part 2. Upon completion of Part 2, and settling of all accounts, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion and an official transcript.



State of Maine Electrician Program - Part 1

Successful completion of Parts 1 & 2, consisting of 636 hours of instruction, satisfies the related instruction required for licensing Journeymen and Master Electricians in the State of Maine.

Students who have completed Part 1 have met the schooling requirements to sit for their Limited House Wiring or Low Voltage Test.

A Proctored Test is required after each completed module. Please call with any questions.
